Have you accepted the reality of AI yet? A good friend of mine recently repeated a phrase that I have been hearing quite often: the reality is that AI is here to stay.

This implies, like it or not, that we had all better get used to it. Now, that does not mean AI is a scary thing, but rather that a new age of technological advancement has suddenly come upon us, and we must again adapt to the changing times.

My first English class in college was one in which the school was introducing desktop computers in the classroom. It was a trial run, and my class was to be one of the first test groups. I remember how my fellow students reacted—some with apprehension, and some with excited curiosity.

At the same time, those machines were being introduced in the workplace. Again, there was a mix of skepticism and acceptance. Later, the Internet opened all sorts of new possibilities in school and at work. We could also talk about laptop computers, cell phones, and today’s “smart phone.”

So, we’ve been here before, my friends. During those advancements, some jobs were eliminated, and the people performing the tasks were retrained or found other places to work. We all adapted. Life moved on. I’ll let you decide if life has been improved or not.

The reality of AI is not much different. Oh, its impact will probably be much larger than those other changes. But the need for humans to adapt is the same. Admittedly, I am still skeptical. I see AI as an extremely powerful tool. In ethical hands, it is capable of improving our lives in ways we have never seen. However, in unethical hands, it is like any other tool—it can also be used to do great harm. Ultimately, we need good humans in charge of AI.

If you are feeling a little behind in the AI revolution, there is a clear explanation of AI on IBM’s website. Before you wholeheartedly adopt it or vehemently reject it, read some basic descriptions of what AI is today and what it is not.

So, why a blog post about AI? Well, as I mentioned in an earlier post, one of the new novels I am writing is MILLENYA, which will turn the subject of artificial intelligence on its head like PLANET OF EDEN does with extraterrestrial intelligence!

Concept for a principal character in MILLENYA.

Prepare for a new spin on AI! MILLENYA is a science fiction adventure-mystery that will keep you guessing right up until its climactic ending. Since my novels are proudly faith-based, readers will enjoy a clean story, written for an adult audience, sometimes gritty, but always classy.

At the beginning of August, I finished the MILLENYA manuscript, and I am now in editing mode. My goal is to publish it in mid-November, just in time for Holiday shopping. So, if you have been wondering why I haven’t posted on my blog for a while, it is because I’ve been deep in writing mode. That said, if you reach out to me by commenting, via my Contact Form, or otherwise, please know that I will always make time to converse with you.

For fans of PLANET OF EDEN, don’t worry. The next book of the trilogy (PLANET OF PERDITION) is already 1/3 written and is just waiting for me to pick it back up. So, you have that to look forward to in the not-too-distant future.

Thank you, as always, my cherished fans, followers, and fellow Edenites, for continuing with me on this writing and publishing journey. Do feel free to reach out to me. I enjoy answering questions about EDEN or anything else on this website that might inspire you.

You were born to be an awesome you. So, keep it up!
