It is official, fellow Edenites! I am now writing Planet of Perdition, the second book of the Planet trilogy!

Draft book cover for Planet of Perdition novel

Looking back through my notes, I see that I began writing the plot outline in July of 2019. Soon after, I completed the story summary, timeline, and even some chapter outlines. Then, in mid-November of that year, I started writing the first five chapters.

That was six years ago. Time certainly flies. So much happened in my life during those years, including a period of darkness that I wish no one would ever have to experience.

Only a few months after writing those first chapters, the entire world fell into chaos as we all faced the uncertainty, distrust, and suffering caused by a man-made, global pandemic. And as if that was not enough, my family had to navigate breast cancer at the same time, followed by two years of a constant emotional roller coaster, and an eventual loss that cannot be described. Perdition.

First recorded in the early 1300’s, perdition was a Latin word that simply meant total loss or destruction. Today, the meaning is mostly the same; perdition refers to absolute spiritual ruin, damnation of the soul, hell, or complete destruction.

Six years after typing the first words of my second novel, I feel even more qualified to write about perdition. That is not to say I have been living all this time in a pit of defeat and depression. I made up my mind long ago to choose faith over fear, trust over doubt, and hope over despair. As God did with the three young men in the fiery furnace (Daniel 3 in the Bible), He walked with me through the flames. The purpose of our trials is to learn, grow, and eventually help others. Even though Planet of Perdition is a sci-fi adventure work of fiction, the themes I weave through it will resonate with readers and give them hope.

The reason I chose perdition for the book’s title is because it best describes the state of our planet when compared to the near-perfect planet of Hourou in Planet of Eden. It will make more sense when you read both books.

In Planet of Eden, Ria left Sah behind on Earth, and in his young mind he must complete her mission. In Perdition, we will see life on Earth through the eyes of Sah.

All our heroes return in Perdition, and you will be meeting some new characters that I know you will enjoy getting to know. Jay and Eah are sent on a special quest while Keah deals with the aftermath of Carlson’s rash actions while on Hourou. Laura will lead the search for Sah under Carlson’s watchful eye. Paul, April, Yori, and Ellis are unwilling, international celebrities and perhaps…pawns? Planet of Perdition is going to be a wild ride with many surprises!

The image above is a draft book cover for Perdition. Yes, that is supposed to be Sah. I will undoubtedly conduct another photo shoot to capture the right look, but this gives you the basic idea. Since Sah plays such a huge role in this book, I feel he deserves to be on the cover. I can’t wait for you to see what he is up to!

As usual, I will keep you updated on my progress, fellow Edenites. Please keep telling people about Planet of Eden, too. Word of mouth is still the most effective kind of advertising. I will do my best to get on social media like I promised in my last blog post. Now that my relocation to Tennessee is behind me and I am getting into a new groove, I will be able to dedicate some time to that. In the meantime, subscribe to the blog if you have not already, and feel free to comment or otherwise reach out to me through this site. I’d love to connect!

Keep being an awesome YOU, dear friend. You’re the only one qualified for the job!
