To celebrate the beginning of Autumn last weekend, I decided it was time to get “out and about” and do some in-person book promotion. Thanks to Chris at Town Square Records and Comics in my new hometown of Gallatin, Tennessee, I was able to set up a book signing table at an impromptu comic event across from Chris’s shop.
It was a hot Saturday, so the downtown square was not the usual bustle of activity. Still, being there was good practice for me to be out and about, and it was a warm-up for the big Gallatin Comic Con coming in November.
What’s with the blow-up aliens, you ask? Yeah. They really have nothing to do with my novel PLANET OF EDEN, but with only a week to prepare, I needed some quick and easy props to help draw attention to my table. I’ll probably repurpose them for Halloween.
At Gallatin Comic Con, I am planning to make a huge splash with a booth space that will really represent PLANET OF EDEN and its otherworldly environments. Of course, book sales are my main goal. EDEN has been out for a year now, and it needs to get into the hands of readers. So, part of my marketing strategy for the remainder of 2025 and into 2026 will be to attend sci-fi and comic conventions. More on that is to come.
ON BEING SOCIAL
I have mentioned in past blog posts about getting into social media. As a marketing professional, I realize how such communication channels can build networks, create conversation, and even sell products and services. For an author, though, diving too deeply into social media can pull you away from your primary work, which is writing your next book. If you’re a fellow author or just someone who is dubious about social media, check out this article: “Why Most Authors Don’t Need Social Media in 2025.”
That said, I am going to rely on this Blog to be my main social media channel, and I encourage you, dear Edenite, to participate by commenting on posts or reaching out to me directly HERE. You can also share my webpages and blog posts on your own social media platforms, and you will see the share icons at the end of every post.
Down the road, I will probably use my YouTube channel to post videos and perhaps sign up for another platform. But right now, I owe it to my fans to focus on my writing.
Again, please do reach out to me. Being social is best when it is real and when it is personal…and that’s how I roll.
